When a council needs a defensible security risk assessment, a developer needs a CPTED report for a planning condition, or a critical infrastructure operator needs a CIRMP physical security plan – organisations across WA call Smartsec.
We provide independent, vendor-neutral physical security consulting across Western Australia. No products to sell. No installers to recommend. Just clear, evidence-based advice aligned with ISO 31000 and the standards that matter to your organisation.
Our clients include local government authorities, commercial operators, property developers, healthcare facilities, critical infrastructure operators, and community organisations across Perth and regional WA.
Every engagement starts with a short call – usually 10 to 15 minutes. We listen to what’s happening at your site, what’s prompted the need for advice, and what you need the assessment to achieve. No obligation and no fee.
We conduct a structured, evidence-based assessment of your site, threat environment, and existing controls – aligned with ISO 31000:2018. No templates, no checklists. A genuine assessment of what’s actually happening at your specific site.
You receive a written report with prioritised findings and practical recommendations – written for decision-makers, not security specialists. Something you can present to a board, council committee, or auditor with confidence. And if questions come up after delivery, we’re available.
Most security advice in Australia comes from companies that also sell products, install systems, or supply guards. That creates an obvious conflict – the assessment tends to find problems that the assessor’s product range can solve.
Smartsec doesn’t sell anything. No CCTV. No access control. No guarding contracts. We have no commercial relationships with any security supplier or installer. When we recommend a technology solution or specify performance requirements for a CCTV or access control system, that advice is based entirely on what your site needs – not on a preferred supplier relationship.
Our work covers security risk assessments, CPTED and place-based safety assessments, independent technology design guidance, security management plans, and CIRMP physical security plans for critical infrastructure operators. Across every service, the advice is the same – evidence-based, vendor-neutral, and written to hold up to scrutiny.
That independence matters when you’re presenting findings to a board, justifying a budget to elected members, or demonstrating compliance to a regulator. An assessment from a vendor-aligned firm carries an implied conflict. Ours doesn’t.
We’re also WA-based and WA-focused. We understand the local planning environment, the WALGA procurement framework, the SOCI obligations that apply to WA critical infrastructure operators, and the practical realities of operating across Perth and regional WA.
We don’t sell products, install systems, or supply guards. No vendor relationships, no preferred supplier arrangements. Our only interest is giving you an accurate picture of your security risk and what to do about it. That’s what makes the advice defensible when it matters most.
Based in Perth with nearly two decades of experience across WA councils, developers, healthcare facilities, critical infrastructure operators, and commercial sites. We understand the WALGA procurement framework, WA planning obligations, and the SOCI and CIRMP requirements that apply to critical infrastructure operators across the state.
Security risk assessments are aligned with ISO 31000:2018. CPTED work follows ISO 22341:2021 and the WA Government’s Safer Places by Design framework. CIRMP physical security plans are structured against the PSPF Facility Security Plan principles required under the enhanced CIRMP Rules.
Our reports are written for decision-makers, not security specialists – structured to support board presentations, council committee approvals, and regulatory attestation. Khabeer is a regular speaker at industry events including the WA Police Crowded Places Forum, bringing an active, current perspective to every engagement.
